Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig Sept. 21 in 1983) is an acclaimed American actor. Most notably, she was the character Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost television show, as well as Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. She was born in Worthington in Ohio. She dropped out of school when her parents split up to move to Los Angeles to live with her mother. In 2001, despite her difficulties with money she managed to secure her first big performance in the video online show Rachel's Room playing the principal character. She went on to earn a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 with her portrayal of fifteen-year-old victim Martha Moxley in the television film Murder which aired in Greenwich. In 2004 Grace was chosen to play Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost where she was the main cast member for the first two seasons. She was also awarded an award called the Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace was a co-star together with Tom Welling on The Fog during 2005, wanted to move into film. In 2007, she starred as a character in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and, opposite Liam Neeson's Kim Mills as Kim Mills for Taken. She reprised the role as Kim Mills in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the lead role Alice in Malice in Wonderland a modern take on Lewis Carroll's novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to the character of Shannon for two additional episodes of Lost as well as the show's finale. The actress was featured in 2013's sixth season of Californication. The character she plays is Faith as an admirer and muse to the stars. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. She is part of Gyllenhaal's family, and is the older cousin of Jake Gyllenhaal. Her first appearances were in films of her father in his adolescent years. Together with her brother she was also as a character in Donnie Darko (2000). She appeared next in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind both in 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal has received acclaim from critics for her leading performances in the erotic romantic comedy Secretary (2002) and in the thriller Sherrybaby (2006) both of which brought her a Golden Globe Award nomination. Following several commercially-successful films, such as World Trade Center in 2006 her fame grew when she played Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). Following her acclaimed performance as a mother who is not married in Crazy Heart (2009), she earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Then she continued to star in comedies along with dramas, such as Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011), and Won't Back Down (12). In addition, she was the role of a Secret Service Agent in White House Down, an action-packed thriller released in 2013, she was a musician on the set of Frank (2014) as well as The lead in The Kindergarten Teacher, a film that debuted in the year the year 2018. In 2021 Gyllenhaal made her writing and directed debut in the psychological drama The Lost Daughter for which she won an award at the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated to win the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
